SAPIENT xml to Protobuf (& JSON) Converter
Background
Our CEO (Mike Mckean) is an adviser on the Dstl SAPIENT panel. In late 2020 the panel decided to consider migrating the existing data mark-up protocol away from xml to Protobuf.
In order to enable existing and new autonomous sensors/end-points to co-exist, we built an xml to Protobuf (and vice-versa) software converter. It can be installed at the back-end High Level Decision Making Module (HLDMM), or installed at the end-point if it had the resource available, and if it was practical to do that.
We also included JSON, thinking that might offer more procurement options, in terms of widening the choices available to procure “end-point” devices.
The demonstration below has been “live” since early 2021, and is hosted on a Raspberry Pi.
